The Supreme Court has issued directives to the Centre, States and Union Territories to file status reports providing details of vacancies and pending pleas in State Information Commissioners (SICs) under the Right to Information (RTI) Act.A bench consisting of Justices S Abdul Nazeer and Krishna Murari issued the direction while hearing joint public interest litigation - filed by RTI activists Anjali Bhardwaj, Commodore (retd.) Lokesh Batra and Amrita Johri - claiming that nearly 50 per cent of the posts in the Central Information Commission and various state commissions were lying vacant.
