SCOPE organizes book release authored by M P Eswhar

SCOPE has organized a book release function for releasing the book titled “Lessons Learnt – The Story of Instrumentation Limited” authored by MP Eshwar, Chairman and Managing Director, Instrumentation Ltd. The Book captures the story of IL- its rise and fall and the Lessons Learnt from the experiences of the Company. Instrumentation Limited, a Government of India Enterprise under the Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, was a profit making and dividend paying company till 1988-89, However, after liberalization it could not keep pace with changing economic conditions and started incurring losses. The company which once was glorious PSU was pushed to the brink.  Padma Bhusan Dr M B Athreya, Management Expert, Chief Guest released the book.  The book published by the Book Line, Delhi, is a unique effort to capture experiences in a sick PSU, while making all efforts to revive it. MP Eshwar, author of the book had taken bold decision to join IL for revival rather than to live in comfort zone in Navratna company HPCL. He spoke about the vision he had while joining IL in July, 2013. He highlighted vigorous efforts made by him in revival of the Company and the lessons learnt which can be useful to other organizations He elaborated as to how he used coaching and mentoring techniques in managing the operations of sick unit at Kota and also how he has effected the turnaround of Palakkad Unit. Padma Bhushan Dr M B Athreya, Management Expert and Chief Guest of the function while releasing the book appreciated the efforts of CMD, IL and advised that we may take lessons from the experiences of Instrumentation Ltd. which would be useful for other companies. On this occasion, Guest of Honour, Ved Prakash, Chairman, SCOPE and CMD, MMTC said that this kind of book which show cases lessons from our past to improve our future, is a matter of pride for all of us especially PSUs.  Guest of Honour, Dr. UD Choubey, Director General, SCOPE, said that documenting experiences while reviving of a company into book is a great idea. Writing a book requires tremendous effort and it is because of untiring efforts of Eshwar, that today, the book on Instrumentation is being released. The various Lessons Learnt captured in the Book will definitely be useful to all PSUs. In the end A K Shringi proposed a vote of thanks to the Chief Guest, Guests of Honour, Secretaries, CMDs, MDs, past and present Directors of IL and various distinguished dignitaries etc., for gracing the occasion.
