A four-member high-powered advisory committee – headed by Justice (retd.) Vijay C Daga, Retired Judge, Bombay High Court, has been constituted by Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) with the objective of looking into settlement orders and compounding of offences. Other members of the panel include former Law Secretary PK Malhotra, former Deloitte Haskins & Sells LLP Chairman PR Ramesh, and Raval & Raval Associates partner and advocate Ms. DN Raval. The settlement mechanism ensures speedy and efficient resolution of disputes wherein an alleged wrongdoer is allowed to settle a pending case with the regulator without admission or denial of guilt by paying a settlement fee.
