SP Pinak Mishra Leverages AI and technology for Safer, Smoother Darshan at Jagannath Temple, Puri

IPS Pinak Mishra is a 2011 batch officer of Odisha cadre and is currently posted as Superintendent of Police in Puri,known for the world-famous Shri Jagannath Temple.

Regarding his mission for the district it focuses on enhancing the pilgrimage experience by leveraging advanced technologies.The aim is to ensure smoother darshan of Lord Jagannath,enhance service delivery,and strengthen crowd and crime management.

“In Puri,where lakhs of devotees come to have darshan of Lord Jagannath, the number of visitors from other states has grown exponentially over the years. Now,we’re working to leverage technology to manage this better”Mishra explained.

Recognising the unique challenges it presents from its complex rituals to deep-rooted traditions -which often make it difficult to streamline the darshan process. “Technology becomes a great enabler,” he said.“We're using tools like crowd mapping and artificial intelligence to manage the flow of people more effectively”

This tech driven approach not only improves the darshan experience and access to service,but also contributes to overall safety and reduced crime.

Balancing faith, heritage,and public safety is no small task but Mishra is proving that with the right tools and vision,it can be done effectively.
