Speculation is rife in Kerala’s power corridors about new DGP!

The incumbent Director General of Police (DGP) Dr Shaik Darvesh Saheb is all set to retire on June 30, and now the state’s power corridors are abuzz with a few names. The officers said to be in consideration belong to 1990, 1991, 1993, 1994 and 1995 batches. Nitin Agrawal, a 1990-batch officer who was BSF Chief, is the most senior member of the group. Next is Ravada A Chandrasekhar, a member of the 1991 batch who is presently employed with the Intelligence Bureau. Another officer said to be in reckoning is Yogesh Gupta, a 1993 batch officer, who is presently leading Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau. Also, state’s Law and Order Chief, Manoj Abraham (1994 batch) is also in the race. Two 1995-batch officers S Suresh and MR Ajith Kumar are also under consideration. On July 1, 2023, Saheb assumed the position of DGP of Kerala after his appointment on 27 June 2023.
