In well-overdue law reforms that seek to establish a modern framework for governing major cash crops like tea and coffee, the Centre has made known its intentions to repeal the Tea Act, 1953, and the Coffee Act, 1942. These legislations are proposed to be replaced by the Tea (Promotion and Development) Act, 2022, and the Coffee (Promotion and Development) Bill, 2022, respectively.
