The recent appointment of Justice Sanjay Yadav as Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court has taken the number of judges, with Madhya Pradesh High Court as their parent High Court, serving as Chief Justices of various high courts to three. While Justice Ravi Shanker Jha is the Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court, Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari is the Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court. Apart from Madhya Pradesh High Court, Calcutta High Court is the parent high court for three current chief justices. They are Bombay High Court Chief Justice Dipankar Datta, Madras High Court Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee and Meghalaya Chief Justice Biswanath Somadder.
