The Technology Perspective and Capability Roadmap (TPCR) 2025 outlines the Indian Navy’s plan to acquire a third aircraft carrier (IAC-2, potentially named INS Vishal) with a 40-year lifecycle, based on the STOBAR design of INS Vikrant but possibly adapted for CATOBAR operations. This includes larger lifts for fifth-generation jets and fixed-wing AWACS, with whispers of a 45,000-tonne displacement to support beyond-2030 requirements.
