UK’s Ambassador to India to get big promotion

UK Government has merged its Foreign Ministry with the Department of International Development to create a huge combined Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. Sir Dominic Asquith, UK’s Ambassador to India will take over as the Secretary of the new entity next month. 63 year old Sir Dominic has not held any important posts in the UK's diplomatic service like Ambassadorship to USA, UN, EU etc. Grandson of a former British Prime Minister H.H. Asquith, he belongs to a distinguished family with his father, maternal grandfather and elder brother having been senior diplomats.
