Union Finance Minister dials DGP when GST officers were kidnapped

The Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman immediately contacted the Director General of Police, when she was informed about the kidnapping of GST officers in Hyderabad. Senior officer of the GST Intelligence VD Ananda Kumar, along with officer Mani Sharma, had gone to raid a scrap shop and a welding shop in Hyderabad. The department has received information that the two establishments were evading Goods and Services Tax. However, four men assaulted them and took them away in a car before placing a ransom demand to the department. After the minister’s call, the Police swung into action and nabbed the accused persons.
