Uttarakhand Tourism signs MoU with ITBP to promote tourism in border villages

Under the able leadership of Pushkar Dhami, CM, Uttarakhand, border village Tourism in the state is bound for a big leap. An MoU was signed on January 1, 2025 between Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board and ITBP – Northern Frontier Headquarter aiming for holistic development of the Border Villages through tourism activities. Uttarakhand Tourism is expanding Heli-Services in remote districts of Uttarakhand with an aim to promote tourism in the border villages. With this the state government also aims to generate employment opportunities in these villages and set a trend for Reverse Migration. Under the MoU, signed in the presence of Mrs Radha Raturi, Chief Secretary, Sanjay Kumar Gunjyal, IG, ITBP – Northern Frontier and Sachin Kurve, Secretary, Tourism, ITBP has agreed to extend the services of its existing Helipads for the purpose of promoting tourism to facilitate tourist activity in remote areas like Adi Kailash, Om Parvat, Timmersain Mahadev, Hemkund Sahib etc. In addition to this, the Helipads shall also be used to provide emergency medical rescue services to the residents of these villages. At present, ITBP has presence in three Border districts of Uttarakhand – Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh. Radha Raturi, Chief Secretary, speaking on the occasion congratulated the Tourism Department for this initiative and thanked ITBP for extending their whole hearted support in the noble cause of nation building through the ‘Vibrant Village Programme’ Sachin Kurve, Secretary, Tourism informed that aerial routes for tourism purpose shall be jointly identified with ITBP to promote Heli Tourism Circuits which will help promote tourism in these lesser known hamlets of the state and provide employment to the local youth.
