Vijay Kumar has eliminations of 209 militants in a year to his credit

A 1997 batch IPS officer, Vijay Kumar deserves a medal for eliminating as many as 209 terrorists including 34 foreigners during his one year tenure as Inspector General of Police, Kashmir range. A team led by him arrested 57 terrorists, 625 associates of terrorists apart from recovering 210 automatic rifles, 224 pistols and 215 grenades from their possession. Besides, more than two dozen hideouts of terrorists were destroyed during his one year tenure. He also proved his mettle for ensuring free and fair first-ever election of DDC in the region.
