Voluntary participation surges among MEA staff for BRICS Summit 2026?

In an unprecedented display of professional enthusiasm, junior and mid-level officials across the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and allied central ministries have actively volunteered for liaison, operational, and delegation management roles for the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi. Scheduled for September 12–13 at Bharat Mandapam.

The surge in voluntary posting requests reflects a strong desire among mid-tier officers to gain direct exposure to complex logistics, protocol management, and international negotiations. Allied departments, including Commerce, Finance, and Home Affairs, have similarly seen staff stepping forward to assist with security coordination and economic track sessions.

For the MEA leadership, this organic influx of volunteer personnel provides a robust workforce to manage the extensive diplomatic machinery required for an expanded 10-member BRICS summit. It underscores a growing culture of proactive engagement within India's civil service during major international summits.
