What CBI did post Demonitisation ?

The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered 77 cases and 07 Preliminary enquiries during post demonetization relating to exchange of demonetised currency in various departments/agencies including Banks, Post Offices, Railways, Insurance companies etc. The amount involved in these cases is around Rs. 395.19 crore. CBI has acted on more than 500 references received from general public and other agencies. CBI also conducted Joint Surprise Checks on Banks and others. During investigation, CBI arrested 21 public servants and 26 private persons out of 307 accused found to be involved in these cases. Chargesheet has been filed in 12 cases and regular department action has also been recommended in a few cases.
