Will LDF break the tradition in Kerala ?
Kerala has the history of alternating between the Left Democratic Front (LDF) lead by CPI(M) and the Congress lead United Democratic Front (UDF) since 1980. Despite being in power in the state, the LDF’s rout in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections – winning just one of the 20 Lok Sabha seats – further suggest an imminent defeat for the CPI (M) in 2021. But going by the results of the local body polls when it bounced back in December 2020, it would be no surprise if it retains power.

Congress lead UDF could not perform in Kerala

Grass is not that green for Congress in Kerala too
Grass is not that green for the Congress in Kerala as it appears to be. The Congress may be elated because of the state’s habit of alternating between the Left Democratic Front (LDF) lead by CPI(M) and the Congress lead United Democratic Front (UDF) since 1980. But the emergence of BJP as a decisive force in the recent past, observers say, has cast a shadow over the usual trend of the LDF and the UDF coming to power alternatively in Kerala.
