It is said that the Government is going to shortlist half a dozen IPS officers for the prestigious post of Chief of CBI this month end or early next month. With long CBI experience Ms Rina Mitra may be considered for the coveted post of CBI Chief. In the present set up, 1983 batch Madhya Pradesh cadre IPS officer Ms Mitra is the senior most IPS officer .If appointed, she would be the first woman CBI Director in the country. Besides one of the 1984 batch IPS officers serving in the GoI having CBI experience may be a dark horse. Four IPS officers of 1984 batch IPS currently in Delhi have served the CBI for long. They are S Javeed Ahmad (UP), Rajesh Ranjan (Bihar), Y C Modi (Assam-Meghalaya) and V K Johri (MP).This time the selection committee will deeply go into the details of the officer.
