Who will be new CDS ?

The Indian media is agog with reports of the appointment of new CDS. Logically, the senior-most Army Chief Gen M M Naravane should succeed late Bipn Rawat  but if one goes by the past record, Modi Government is known for surprises. In this context, appointment of Former Air Chief Marshal R K S Bhadauria is not ruled out. In top circles, it is widely believed that this time new CDS will be either from Air Force or Navy. If General Naravane is promoted as the next CDS, there will be a string of vacancy in the army chain of command as well.
