Seniormost and experienced IAS officer in the cadre is Manoj Kumar Parida. 1986 batch UT cadre IAS officer Parida is presently posted as ACS, Home, GDA and PWD. He was earlier Chief Secretary Pondicherry. Another contender for the post is Chairman of the NDMC Naresh Kumar. He is one year junior to Parida in the cadre. According to sources many IAS officers are reluctant to grab this post and that is the reason GoI could not appoint new CS immediately.
