Why is NMC not giving recognition to medical colleges?

The govt, under the plan, is opening medical colleges in the country but the National Medical Commission (NMC) is not giving the recognition to these new medical colleges. Recently the Commission rejected 19 such proposals because of insufficient infrastructure. The govt had sent the proposal of 33 medical colleges. NMC cleared only 23.
