He may be appointed DG, ITBP, whose DG, Ranjit Kumar Pachnanda is superannuating on Oct 31. Asthana is a 1984 batch Gujarat cadre IPS officer. One whisper says that Director Alok Verma has recommended suspension of Asthana pending investigation and repatriation to the parent cadre.
