Uncertainty looms over the promotion of about 560 IRS officers. According to sources Ministry of Finance has administratively approved the proposal for their promotion and DoPT has already given concurrence to their promotion from Jan 1, 2018. Presently only 924 Jt CIT/Addl CIT are working against the sanctioned strength of 1575. Now all eyes are on CBDT. Will CBDT convene DPC to promote eligible IRS officers ?
