DEBATE (1)
Whatever some people may say, there is at present no alternative to our PM Narendra Modi. It is not understood what some people mean by achche din, or lack of employment. From brittle 5 nations, India is now the sixth largest economy in the world. Our ranking in social sectors have improved substantially , perhaps these achievements have happened without employment, and these are not achche din! Perhaps for some, chara ghotala, cuts in every deal, and mega corruption are measures of achche din. Well may their tribe decrease!

Make fresh recruitments
I agree the suggestions made to nominate a model ministry i. e. DoPT. However, it is better to make fresh recruitments against each vacant post not only CSS/CSSS but for all category of posts.

Snatchers in paradise ,while the hapless victims in hell
For the last more than fifteen years ,i have been regularly reading reporting in the newspapers, of snatching purses, gold chains, bangles, ear-rings, rings and mobile phones, with utter dismay, and seriously condemning the lax governance. Allied with these snatching incidents, are the reports of breaking of the glasses of the windows of the cars, to take away laptops and other valuables by brandishing daggers or even pistols by the criminals creating fear and sense of insecurity amongst the general public. Predominantly, members of the fair-sex are targeted as victims-be they are Indians or foreigners. The reports of catching and busting the snatching gangs appear in almost equal numbers, but never making any change in the ground reality of consistent escalation of this most feared crime like that of 'kaale kachheyan wale' .There has never been any vociferous outcry against this crime, whereas many other not so significant issues, ignite public ire in form of processions, dharnas and road blockades. This evil has almost become part of the social existence
About 9 years back, one of my close relatives, became victim of the such dreadful and horrifying event. She was on her evening walk, around the park, just behind the residence of then SSP Amritsar. Two motorcycle borne young boys slowed it near her and protruded one arm in a jerk and pounced at her neck. She thought that some vagabonds had snatched her shawl, which was lying just a few yards ahead after they sped past. She picked up the shawl and was happy that the vagabonds could not take it away. So swift was the action and so shocking its impact on her that she was unable to raise any alarm. A lady came near her and my relative smilingly told her, ''They could not take away the shawl. ''She realized that her gold chain had been snatched, only when the lady asked her as to if she was wearing any gold chain. In utter panic she said,'' Oh ! They have taken away my gold chain''. Her son ,who was an executive engineer in govt immediately took her to the police post ,after speaking to his intimately known SP. It took two hours and some very embarrassing moments, to lodge first information report. In spite of the fact that the Police head was personally approached along with some other influential people, nothing happened for a year to trace the gold chain.
Suddenly, one day, a policeman from the police post came, at about 8 PM and told that some snatchers have been caught. He wanted that those have to be identified. When he was told that they would come to the police post the next day, he insisted that they should come just then. His way of talking and general behaviour was atrocious. Executive Engineer sahib had to speak to SP to ward off that night evil. Next day accompanied by her two gazetted officers sons and some other influential persons, the lady went to the police post. The in-charge gave them six thousand rupees and told them in confidence that they should get a gold chain prepared and hand it over to the police as case property. After a few days the lady gave her old chain to her son to be handed over to the police to be kept as case property. The snatched chain was worth rupees fifty thousands. The identification muddle was sorted out, by finally saying, on the recommendation of some big sifarish that she had not seen the snatchers clearly.
Thereafter started the process of hearing in the court. On each date of hearing ,one son will take leave from the office to accompany his mother, spend entire day in the overcrowded court complex, and come back, without any positive result. This happened on more than twenty occasions. Court summons would take away the peace and happiness from the house, till the date of hearing. This unbearable ordeal continued for almost three years. In the nightmares, the accused would often appear to grievously hurt our relative. She ,as well as the family, could not find way to get rid of hellish environment. Six years had passed, when one senior officer in the prosecuting agency, got us freed from this evil .He got the statement of the lady and other witnesses recorded in record time and told the lady that they would not be summoned again. However ,the sons of the lady continued to surreptitiously, have tab on the proceedings in the court. The family actually celebrated ,when it was known that the accused snatchers have been acquitted and the case had been closed.
