Cases of heart attacks & suicides by youngsters on rise

The cases of heart attacks at early age and suicides by the youngsters are really matters of serious concern. The newspapers are riddled with the reports of these incidents. The Governments should take note of such cases.

India's Economic Growth

India has become the world's fourth-largest economy, which is a big achievement. However, this has not affected people much. There are several reasons for this. There is a huge gap between the rich and the poor. While industries like IT and finance help the economy grow, they do not create enough jobs for most people. Other factors, like a large number of unorganized workers and not enough social support, also make many people feel unhappy. Additionally, concerns about corruption add to this sense of unhappiness.

A good order by the CIC

Unlike many other orders where the Information Commissioners run away from responsibility, this order speaks for itself. It appears that the CIC went beyond its powers to provide relief instead of providing information, it is better to err on the side of transparency. This contrasts with another order of State Information Commission, where the Jabalpur High Court had to pass a stricture and impose costs.

Nothing is strange

There have been many cases where suitable candidates were found by PESB for manning PSUs. So nothing is strange in this selection also.

Illogical, illegal orders a part of bureaucracy

Illogical and illegal orders are a part of bureaucracy - afraid to see the light of the day. In some cases, it is the sheer habit of hiding issues which leads to denial of information. It is not ignorance, but habit which is the cause of denial of information. When the information commission is full of retired bureaucrats, what else can you expect?

No IAS officer is less than crorepati

Please recall the statement of former CBI Chief Mr. Joginder Singh. In one of the TV interviews, he said that "I cannot remember any IAS as poor, all are running into crores, exceptions are ruled out".

What is civil service today?

Is civil service any longer a matter of pride? If a chief minister can call the highest ranking civil servant to his official residence and surround him with “goondas” (the SC had used the term. Besides, our best legislation is Anti-Goonda Act!) and beat him and the judiciary smiling at the fun going on, is civil service left with the dignity of a “service” at all? Civil servants make sacrifices in public service that is best among all other wings, because they put their neck on the chopping block for a pittance called salary, suffer politicians and ire of the judiciary too.

Owaisi in Indian delegation

Inclusion of Asaduddin Owaisi in one of the Indian delegations that is travelling abroad to brief countries about Operation Sindoor is not surprising. Owaisi has been most vocal in criticising the government on many issues including Waqf Amendment Bill. But he stood firmly with the government during Operation Sindoor and launched all-out attack on Pakistan after the ghastly Pahalgam terror attack. A section of people also believe that he is BJP's B-team since his party cuts Muslim votes, which ultimately benefits BJP. However, there can be differing opinions about the outspoken AIMIM chief.

Scheme fails to provide timely relief

Compassionate appointment was perceived as a tool to help the family of a government servant in distress due to the sudden demise of the individual. However, the scheme has miserably failed to provide timely relief. There is opacity and the poor are not able to get relief. Need to have a total fresh look at the scheme.

Road accidents on rise

The cases of road accidents are rising in the country. People are not following traffic rules properly claiming innocent lives. The Governments of States should take some action against erring people so as to save innocent lives.
