Making Kullu Safer for Tourists: IPS Dr. Karthikeyan Gokulachandran’s Mission in Action

IPS Dr. Karthikeyan Gokulachandran is a 2014 batch officer of Himachal Pradesh cadre and is currently posted as  Superintendent of Police in Kullu district, HP. With Kullu being a famous tourist destination, Dr. Gokulachandran is committed to ensuring the safety of both tourists and residents.

"Safeguarding tourists and ensuring safety on the National Highways is a priority," he stated.

To achieve this, Dr Gokulachandran is focused on both development and coordinated efforts “There’s a lot to be done. Kullu and Manali are major tourist hubs, and with the steady flow of visitors, ensuring safety remains a constant focus, ”he remarked.

A major part of strategy involves enhancing surveillance. For this, he explained various agencies—including the Border Roads Organization, National Highways Authority, state departments, and local panchayats are working together.

“We’re integrating their efforts to build an intelligent traffic management system” he explained.

This collaborative approach can prove to be a game changer in managing the region’s growing traffic and tourism while ensuring public safety.
