Why was the interview of SBI Chairman postponed?

The much-anticipated interview for the post of chairman at the State Bank of India (SBI) has hit an unexpected snag. Scheduled for 21 May, the interview has now been postponed and in the communication received in this connection, no reason has been mentioned. Late on Monday, SBI, the country's biggest bank, received a notice about the deferral, with no new date provided for the interview. The exact reasons for postponement could not be ascertained immediately. However, sources said, the new date for the interview will be decided after the formation of the new government after June 4. Incumbent Dinesh Kumar Khara is retiring on 28 August and the next Chairman is expected to take charge the same day. The appointment of a new chairman comes at a time when SBI’s financial performance has vastly improved.
