Four senior IAS officers, who were posted as Secretaries at the Centre were sent to their respective states to take over as Chief Secretary. This started with Sudhanshu Pant, Secretary, Health, when he was transferred to his cadre to take over as CS, Rajasthan in January this year. In June Agriculture Secretary Manoj Ahuja was sent to his home cadre Odisha as CS. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar called back Amrit Lal Meena, Coal Secretary to home cadre in August. He was appointed the Chief Secretary. Anurag Jain, who was Union Transport and Highway secretary was repatriated to his cadre and appointed as CS of MP this month.
