The Ministry of Coal organised the Star Rating Award Ceremony on October 21, 2024 at SCOPE Convention Centre, SCOPE Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi with Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy as the Chief Guest and Minister of State for Coal and Mines Satish Chandra Dubey as the special guest. In the event, 4 mines of SECL were given Star Rating Awards for outstanding performance on various parameters related to coal production. In the event, SECL's Haldibari UG Mine (SECL Hasdeo Area) was awarded the first prize, Bhatgaon Colliery (SECL Bhatgaon Area) was awarded the second prize and Khairaha UG Mine (SECL Sohagpur Area) was awarded the Achiever Award in the underground category, while SECL's Gevra Mine was awarded the Achiever Award in the opencast category. On this occasion, in the august presence of Coal Secretary Vikram Dev Dutt, Additional Secretary Smt. Vismita Tej, Additional Secretary Smt. Rupinder Brar and Coal India Chairman PM Prasad, SECL CMD Dr. Prem Sagar Mishra, Director Technical (Project & Planning) N Franklin Jaikumar, and Area General Managers received the awards. The Ministry of Coal has launched Star rating of coal mines to promote green, safe and sustainable mining practices with the help of technology. Coal Controller's Organisation, Ministry of Coal gives star ratings to coal and lignite mines across the country based on the performance of mines in complying with different rules & regulations relating to mining operations as well as in areas relating to safety, environment, rehabilitation of project affected families, welfare of workers etc.
