THDCIL wins "India’s Best Hydropower Project Enterprise" Awards 2024 (UPDATED)

THDC India Limited (THDCIL), a leading Public Sector Undertaking, has been adjudicated as the winner of "India’s Best Hydropower Project Enterprise (Storage Hydropower & Development of PSPs)" at the PRAKASHmay 17th ENERTIA Award 2024, India & South Asia’s premier awards for excellence in sustainable energy, power, and renewables. The prestigious award was conferred by Ghanshyam Prasad, Chairperson, CEA, along with several renowned experts from the Indian power sector, at a glittering ceremony held in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. R K Vishnoi, CMD of THDCIL, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the entire team for this remarkable achievement. He emphasized that the award is a testament to the collective efforts of the THDCIL team and underscores the company’s unwavering commitment to sustainable energy solutions. He also highlighted the cutting-edge technology being deployed at the 1000 MW Tehri Pumped Storage Plant (PSP). Vishnoi further added that the recognition highlights the significant strides THDCIL has made in harnessing state-of-the-art technology, setting new benchmarks in the hydropower sector. Shallinder Singh, Director (Personnel), congratulated the team on this prestigious recognition and said that this is a testament to their unwavering Commitment, Collective effort, and relentless pursuit of excellence of THDCIL in Sustainable Energy. He further noted that this achievement reflects the dedication of each individual at THDCIL in advancing the company's mission to deliver Innovative, Green Energy solutions for a Sustainable Future. Bhupender Gupta, Director (Technical), praised the team for overcoming technical challenges during the operation of commissioned projects, particularly the successful synchronization of India’s first variable-speed PSP unit to the grid. Sipan Kumar Garg, Director (Finance), also congratulated the team, acknowledging that this recognition stands as a testament to THDCIL’s steadfast commitment to the development of sustainable energy and a greener future. The award and citation were presented to L P Joshi, Executive Director (Tehri Complex), who expressed his gratitude and praised the commitment of the Tehri Power Complex team. He noted their success in operating the Tehri HPP (250 MW x 4), Koteshwar HEP (100 MW x 4), and the landmark achievement of synchronizing India’s first variable-speed PSP unit to the grid on November 19, 2024. The award was received by CS Rana, AGM (Tehri PSP), and Sh. Ashish Mamgain, DGM (Tehri PSP), on behalf of THDCIL. During the award ceremony, the team presented an overview of the Tehri PSP project.
