Hindustan Copper appoints Mine Developer cum Operator

Consequent upon successful tendering action, Hindustan Copper Ltd. (HCL) has appointed M/s South West Mining Limited (SWML) as the Mine Developer cum Operator (MDO) for re-opening and expansion of Rakha Copper Mine, development of a new underground mine at Chapri and commissioning of a new concentrator plant for a period of 20 years, extendable by another 10 years. The mining operation in Rakha Mine was suspended since 2001 on account of unviable operations. The Mining Services Agreement was signed today between M/s Hindustan Copper Limited and M/s South West Mining Limited in Ranchi in the august presence of G Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of Coal and Mines, along with Ghanshyam Sharma, CMD, HCL, Sanjiv Kumar Singh, Director (Mining), HCL, Vivek Sharma, Director, MoM, Anil Sood, Whole Time Director, SWML, Abhisek Jain, CFO, SWML, Sanjay Singh, AVP (Operations & Projects), SWML, S S Sethi, ED, ICC/HCL, and other senior officials. The Letter of Award (LoA) was issued to M/s South West Mining Limited (SWML) on 25.11.2024. The total capital expenditure (CAPEX) for this project is estimated to be approximately INR 2,700 crore. The direct and indirect employment will be around 10,000.
