NBCC (India) Ltd. proudly announces that the Integrated Exhibition Cum Convention Centre (IECC), better known as Bharat Mandapam has been awarded the prestigious GRIHA 4-Star rating under the GRIHA V.2015 rating variant. This recognition underscores NBCC's commitment to sustainable infrastructure and green building excellence. The redevelopment of the ITPO Complex into an Integrated Exhibition Cum Convention Centre (IECC) at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi was executed by NBCC India Ltd for ITPO. Registered with GRIHA in 2018, the project has now set a benchmark in eco-friendly construction and aligns with world-class sustainability and design standards. At the felicitation ceremony on 11.02.2025, the GRIHA Council presented the green building rating plaque to Pradeep Singh Kharola, CMD, ITPO and K P Mahadevaswamy, CMD, NBCC (India) Ltd. The award was conferred by Mr. Sanjay Seth, CEO, GRIHA Council & Senior Director, TERI in the presence of other key stakeholders. The ITPO project underwent a rigorous environmental assessment across 31 sustainability criteria, achieving remarkable milestones. Energy consumption was reduced by 43.5% through efficient air-conditioning, BEE-star-rated equipment, and LED lighting. Grid supply dependence was cut by 25% with over 400 KWp of solar PV panels installed. Water conservation efforts led to a 70% reduction in annual usage, supported by a 1.1 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) and low-flow fixtures. Organic waste is fully treated on-site through an Organic Waste Converter (OWC). Additionally, over 800 mature trees were retained, and 5,000 native trees were planted, contributing to biodiversity and environmental resilience. Smart metering systems and Building Management Systems (BMS) ensure efficient resource monitoring and consumption management. To enrich the green landscape of the city and reduced pollution more than 20,000 plants were planted on DDA allocated land from this project fund. This achievement reaffirms NBCC’s leadership in sustainable infrastructure and its dedication to building a greener future for India.
