Promotion order issues after 14 years of retirement
As per CBIC order, George Verghese, Superintendent of Central Excise has been promoted to the grade of Assistant Commissioner of Customs and Indirect Taxes on ad-hoc basis notionally with effect from 27.10.2010. Further, the government reserves the right to terminate the ad-hoc promotion and revert him to the post from which he was promoted. Meanwhile, Veghese, whose date of birth is February 2, 1951, retired in February 2011. The CBIC issued the action taken by the Office order on April 2, 2025.
