Major administrative overhaul in Andhra Pradesh likely

In a major administrative overhaul ahead of the Census 2027, the state government announced the creation of two new districts—Markapuram (in Prakasam district) and Madanapalle (carved out from Chittoor)—and six new revenue divisions: Pileru (in Chittoor), Addanki (in Bapatla), Giddalur (in Prakasam), Madakasira (in Anantapur), Nakkapalli (in Kakinada), and Banaganapalli (in Nandyal). Additionally, Gudur mandal has been reassigned from Tirupati district back to Nellore, and Nuzvidu may be incorporated into NTR district, with Kaikalur remaining in Krishna district. This restructuring is expected to necessitate new IAS postings for district collectors and revenue officials in the coming weeks, though specific names have not yet been announced.
