Centre Appoints 3 New CVOs in Key Departments Amid Plans to Overhaul Vigilance Oversight, with More to Come?

In a significant administrative development, the Central Government has approved the appointment of three Chief Vigilance Officers (CVOs) across major government organisations, marking the beginning of a broader restructuring in the vigilance framework. The move comes as the government is reportedly considering transferring vigilance oversight away from line departments to ensure greater independence and accountability.

Ashish Kumar Shukla has been appointed as CVO of the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Delhi, under the Department of Sports. Devinder Kumar will serve as CVO, Prasar Bharati (PB), Delhi, under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. Meanwhile, Dalip Singh Bhadauria (IOFS:2002) has been named CVO in the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Delhi.

These appointments underscore the government’s intent to strengthen internal vigilance mechanisms and streamline anti-corruption oversight across ministries and public bodies. Sources indicate that more such appointments are expected in the coming weeks as part of a phased effort to detach vigilance monitoring from departmental controls and ensure a more uniform and insulated system of oversight.
