National Workshop on PMAY-U 2.0 Organized by MoHUA & HUDCO (UPDATED)

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), in collaboration with the Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO), organized a National Workshop on Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0 at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.  The workshop brought together over 100 stakeholders from States and Union Territories (UTs).  The event was inaugurated by Manohar Lal, Minister of Housing & Urban Affairs and Power, who reiterated the government’s commitment to "Housing for All." He said that PMAY-Urban 2.0 is a landmark initiative, fulfilling the dream of homeownership for countless families while ensuring affordable and inclusive housing for all. He further highlighted that the scheme prioritizes key segments such as Low-Income Groups (LIG), Middle-Income Groups (MIG) including street vendors, economically disadvantaged individuals, women, and specially-abled individuals.

In his opening remarks, CMD HUDCO Sanjay Kulshrestha stated that HUDCO can play a significant role in supporting the government’s efforts to ensure affordable housing for all. He outlined HUDCO’s efforts in providing financial assistance on competitive terms, aiding implementing agencies in project preparation, and organizing capacity-building workshops to enhance stakeholder capabilities.

Kuldip Narayan, Joint Secretary & Mission Director (HFA), outlined the key features of PMAY-Urban 2.0, emphasizing its criteria, modalities, and implementation process. He stated that more than 25 states have signed MoUs. Heemphasized the need to adopt a systematic approach to expanding the affordable housing ecosystem through both government and private interventions.
