Constitution Day observed at NLC India Ltd (UPDATED)

The Constitution Day, signifying the 75th year of adoption of the Constitution of India was observed by NLC India Limited at a function held at the Synergy Hall, Corporate Office on November 26, 2024. Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD, NLCIL, Samir Swarup, Director (HR), M. Venkatachalam, Director (Power), Appakannu Govindarajan, IPoS, CVO, NLCIL, Executive Directors, Senior officials and employees of NLCIL participated in the function. November 26 is observed as Constitution Day in India as on this day in 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution, which came into effect on January 26, 1950, marking the beginning of a new era in Indian history. At NLCIL, the Preamble of the Constitution was read out by Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD and Functional Directors. Later, speaking on the occasion, Appakannu Govindarajan, IPoS, CVO, NLCIL, said that the constitution ensured equality and empowerment of women which we should put into practice. M Venkatachalam, Director (Power), in his address, stated that the fundamental rights laid down in the constitution were unique and we should cherish them and uphold them in our daily lives. Samir Swarup, Director (HR) traced the history of the drafting of the constitution and underlined the importance of taking the country forward by assiduous adherence to the constitutional values. Addressing the employees, Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD, NLCIL, recalled the efforts taken by the then leaders to constitute a committee to draft a visionary and vibrant Constitution that could cater to the needs of future generations. He called for dedication and commitment to the constitution that was created surmounting various challenges like diversity and other constraints. He declared it was the collective responsibility of all to follow the core values enshrined in the constitution and take the country forward.  A Power Point presentation “Know our Constitution”, elucidating the basic tenets of the constitution was made by DVS Narayana Murthy, ED/Legal, CSR & Medical Branch on the occasion.
