REC commits ₹8.44cr to support 1MW solar photovoltaic power plant in TN (UPDATED)

REC Limited, a Maharatna CPSE under the Ministry of Power and a leading NBFC, has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Gandhigram Rural Institute under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. REC has committed financial assistance of ₹8.44 cr for establishing 1MW multitechnology ground mounted, grid connected solar photovoltaic power plant for the benefit of students, research scholar at the Gandhigram Rural Institute (GRI), Dindigul, Tamil Nadu. The project shall be implemented by the GRI in technical collaboration with BHEL. The agreement was signed on 9th January 2025 between Mrs Thara Ramesh, CPM REC RO Chennai and Dr L Rathakrishnan, GRI in august presence of Narayanan Thirupathy, Independent Director, REC. The establishment of this solar photovoltaic multi technology power plant will not only make the Institute self-reliant in terms of power but will also act as hub for research on use of latest state of the art technology in the terms of panels and inverters technologies in modern solar power plants.
